Description

The crowd gathered at the Jameson & Wotton Wharf bid goodbye to the boys who attended Camp Durrell, a boys' camp located on Moody Island, now known as Crotch Island, a few miles off the coast of Friendship. It was founded by the Massachussets and Rhode Island Young Men's Christian Associations in 1894.

The Eastern Steamboat Company provided daily trips from Boston to Friendship during the summer for campers and their visiting parents.
